Nigel Brown is also a City University graduate, who has recently moved to the area after running his own independent optometry practices on the south coast for over 20 years. He has worked closely with NHS services to improve glaucoma management, and has been a Clinical Governance Lead. His work on Primary Care referral guidelines has gone through three editions, helping patients to be referred for appropriate care. As a member of an NHS Health Authority Planning, Policy and Advisory Group, he has worked with ophthalmologists and other specialists to develop local eyecare services.
Nigel has completed the continuing education and training MECS (Minor Eye Conditions Service) qualification and is currently working towards completing a postgraduate Glaucoma qualification (having now completed Part One).
He has a particular interest in the use of technology in practice, especially in the field of medical imaging (OCT), which has revolutionised the possibilities of eye disease detection and treatment.
As a keen supporter of Moorfields Eye Hospital, Nigel has taken part in the Moorfields ‘Eye To Eye’, Moorfields Eye Charity’s flagship fundraising event to raise essential funds for pioneering research.
Appointments are available with Nigel on Mondays and Tuesdays.
